What is AR400 Steel plate?

Properties

AR400 steel is one of the more abrasion resistant steels available. As you increase hardness, however, you are creating a more rigid steel. This means that AR400 is less weldable and formable than other types of AR steel.

AR400 has the following chemical and mechanical properties:

  • Welding = Decent
  • Machining = Good
  • Abrasion Resistance = Excellent
  • Corrosion Resistance = Good
  • Forming = Fair

Steel Requirements

AR400 meets ASTM E10 standards for mechanical properties. The flatness and thickness standards are also 50% of that specified in ASTM A-6 with special tolerances available..
