What is AR600 Steel plate?

AR600 steel plate is another grade of abrasion-resistant steel that exhibits even higher hardness than AR500. Similar to other abrasion-resistant steels, the "AR" in AR600 stands for "abrasion-resistant," and the number 600 indicates the Brinell hardness number, reflecting the material's high level of hardness.

Hardness :AR600 steel typically has a hardness of around 600 Brinell, making it one of the hardest types of abrasion-resistant steels available. This high hardness provides superior resistance to wear and abrasion

Toughness : Despite its extreme hardness, AR600 steel maintains a certain level of toughness, allowing it to absorb impact and deformation without fracturing.

Weldability : AR600 steel can be welded, but, as with other abrasion-resistant steels, precautions are necessary to prevent issues such as cracking. Welding procedures often involve preheating and post-weld heat treatment to maintain the desired properties.

Formability :While harder than AR500, AR600 can still be formed and machined, though it may require more force and specialized equipment.

Aggregate processing: : Equipment involved in crushing and processing highly abrasive aggregate materials may benefit from the superior abrasion resistance of AR600 steel.

Material handling :In conveyor systems, chutes, and hoppers where materials with exceptionally high abrasiveness are transported, AR600 may be utilized.

Heavy-duty construction equipment:: Components exposed to extreme wear, such as bulldozer blades and excavator buckets, may be made from AR600 steel.

When choosing between different grades of abrasion-resistant steel, including AR400, AR450, AR500, and AR600, the decision depends on the specific requirements of the application. Factors such as abrasion resistance, impact resistance, and overall performance need to be considered to ensure the selected material meets the demands of the intended use.

  • .375”-2.00” thickness offered in standard sizes (96” x 240”/288”)

Properties

AR600 steel is one of the more abrasion resistant steels available. As you increase hardness, however, you are creating a more rigid steel. This means that AR600 is less weldable and formable than other types of AR steel.

AR600 has the following chemical and mechanical properties:

  • Welding = Decent
  • Machining = Good
  • Abrasion Resistance = Excellent
  • Corrosion Resistance = Good
  • Forming = Fair

Steel Requirements

AR600 meets ASTM E10 standards for mechanical properties. The flatness and thickness standards are also 50% of that specified in ASTM A-6 with special tolerances available..
